DAT News | 005 : A positive word about Caledonian Sleeper

For me, what’s going on in the railways in the UK is heartbreaking. The government’s lack of fundamental understanding of what public transport is for is shameful, but that is what the majority of British people vote for, so I need to accept it. However, this is not ranting about politics. It is hard to find good news about railways these days. I just found one.

At the time of writing this post, there is a Storm Babet crossing the UK, causing chaos to railway journeys. I was just scanning through national rail enquiries to see the effect of it, and I found what Caledonian Sleeper is doing for customers affected by the cancellation of most of their services.

If you are away from home and unable to complete your return journey, you can travel to London Euston and stay onboard our train in the station overnight with our crew as it will remain on the platform. Guests choosing to stay overnight on our train on the platform can board from 20:30 to 21:15 and stay onboard until 08:00 tomorrow morning.

It is an amazing example of customer service, and I want to praise Caledonian Sleeper for doing that. I travelled with Caledonian Sleep twice. Once as part of the 32 hours on the trains in UK challenge, you can read here: https://dominiksymonowicz.com/2018/10/25/doms-32-hours-on-trains-in-the-uk-challenge-part-3-london-euston-aberdeen/ and this year on a day-night-out trip to and from Fort William.
I am looking forward to travelling with them again this year for Xmas with my family.
