USS Dominik @ Watford

USS stands for underground’s secret search, and it is about exploring things around London’s underground station. Read more about it in my introduction: https://dominiksymonowicz.com/2017/07/07/uss-dominik-underground-secrets-search-introduction/

This station was open in 1925. I visited this station on 06.04’2018. At the time of writing this blog, I visited 42 stations this year (15%). Since I started this project I visited 58 stations (21%) and I passed 163 stations. (60%).

This station is called Watford but is far from Watford city centre. The main reason to come here is many green places nearby.

Station itself looks average without having anything exciting to say about it.

Any interesting historical events and Trivia

  1. This is the terminus for the Metropolitan line.
  2. There is a plan to extend Metropolitan to Watford Junction. Progress in this matter is between very slow or suspended. As of October 2018, It is suspended due to lack of cost. This station will be closed, when the extension will be completed.
  3. If you go to Watford High Street, Use London Overground instead as it is much closer. It will take you around 15-20 minutes to walk from Watford tube station
  4. Platform 1 at Watford is the longest platform on the Metropolitan line. It is 183m long.

Is any Good pub, restaurant, independent coffee place or compelling places to see nearby?

No. This is station is a gateway to nowhere :).

Is any stunning walks nearby?

There is Cassiobury Park and Cassiobury Park Nature Reserve nearby and from there you can go for long walks toward Rickmansworth, Chesham and many more.

Note: All resources I used to gather knowledge I will keep on the introduction page (https://dominiksymonowicz.com/2017/07/07/uss-dominik-underground-secrets-search-introduction/)
